Born in the black dirt of Iowa, Shane moved to the mountains in his 27th year, just as the John Denver song says. Now rooted in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, Shane George brings an honest blend of Americana, country, folk, blues, and roots rock to every stage he plays. Equal parts songwriter and storyteller, he mixes original songs with timeless favorites, delivering them with grit, humor, and the easy confidence of a seasoned performer. It's the kind of show that feels less like a concert and more like a gathering of old friends—and by the end of the night, you'll be hollering, "Come back, Shane!"
Shane played in the successful central Iowa cover band, The Coda, from 1990-2001 with fellow high school classmates Jeff Dodd and Jeff Cerka. Together they entertained bars and stages all over Iowa while playing with lead guitarist John Hunzelman from '93-'94, then Monte Whetstone from '97-'01. It's fabled that they even opened for country outlaw Travis Tritt at the Iowa State Fair, though Travis played hours later that night. The Coda recently gathered for a reunion show in their hometown, Colo, Iowa, to play the Crossroads Festival near the lake at Hickory Grove with fireworks at the end. It was the event of the summer!
He has co-written songs with some other area storytellers, singers, and talents, including Texas Hall of Fame and Grammy-nominated songwriter David Lee.
